VendWise: Real Profit and Payout Checks for Jumia Vendors

A web app that tells Ghanaian Jumia vendors what each sale really earned and checks every weekly payout for money Jumia still owes.

01 / Overview

VendWise is a Nerds IV product for people who sell on Jumia in Ghana, many with more than one shop. It connects to the vendor's Jumia shop, brings in orders, fees, returns and weekly payout statements, and turns them into a clear answer to "did I make money this week?" VendWise is built for Jumia vendors and is not affiliated with Jumia.

02 / The challenge

Jumia's seller center shows orders and sales, but the money that reaches a vendor is very different: commission that changes by category, a shipping contribution on every item, returns that cost the vendor, penalties, and payouts that arrive a week later. Vendors tracked this in notebooks and spreadsheets, if at all, so losses on individual products and unpaid orders went unnoticed.

03 / What we built

  1. 01Connects to the vendor's Jumia shop through Jumia's seller API and syncs orders and fees every 30 minutes; weekly payouts come in by themselves
  2. 02Profit per order and per period after commission, shipping contribution, returns and stock cost, with estimated fees clearly labelled until the real statement amounts arrive
  3. 03Money check matches each weekly statement to orders and flags delivered orders never paid, unexplained penalties and payouts that came in short, with a claim message ready for Jumia support
  4. 04Returns view ranks the products that keep coming back or never get delivered
  5. 05Team access for owners, staff and accountants, multi-shop businesses, and subscriptions paid by Mobile Money or card through Paystack
  6. 06All money stored as whole pesewas, every tenant query isolated with PostgreSQL row-level security, and the money rules covered by automated tests
